The modern world is driven by data. We are living in an age of analytics and ever-evolving technology, where machine learning is paving the way for exciting new artificial intelligence capabilities. To understand data and how to use it in the implementation of machine learning is to navigate and succeed in an unpredictable world.
Developments in machine learning mean that entire data analysis workflows can now be automated through algorithms, meaning faster and more comprehensive business insights. The use of algorithms takes out the human elements of bias and time restrictions, meaning an objective approach to information. The understanding of machine learning and data analysis is an essential asset to digital businesses.
Learn the fundamentals of Python programming and explore topics surrounding algorithms, data structures, dictionaries, modules, data processing and file handling. Discover the realm of data import, manipulation and visualisation principles in machine learning, plus implement machine learning and AI by building models using real-world data.
In this credential you will:
- design and develop software programs and scripts using Python programming
- conceptualise the main aspects of machine learning
- plan and incorporate data pre-processing and model real data
- develop and train machine learning models using supervised and unsupervised techniques
- plan and incorporate machine learning models on real-world projects.
The content of the course is driven by industry demand, meaning you will acquire skills that are highly sought after in the workplace. You will ultimately be equipped to take greater managerial and operational control of your organisation's data assets and develop an ability to use popular programming languages to develop machine learning models.
To be successful in this credential, it would be beneficial to have:
- experience in programming and data intelligence or;
- prior undergraduate or equivalent credit gained for recognised learning.

Learning materials will be provided to you through the teaching of this credential and via Canvas, our learning management system. You must bring your own laptop to class.
Where will my learning experience be held?
All courses are delivered face-to-face and in an online virtual classroom. The face-to-face sessions will run twice per week over four weeks. They commence Tuesday 14 September 2021, in the Gallery Room starting 5:30pm to 9pm.
